Interesting Facts about . . .

Kids and Piano Lessons
Article from Forbes magazine shows that PIANO LESSONS MAKE KIDS SMARTER:
"It's sure to be music to parents' ears: After nine months of weekly training in piano or voice, new
research shows young students' IQs rose nearly three points more than their untrained peers.
The Canadian study lends support to the idea that musical training may do more for kids than simply
teach them their scales--it exercises parts of the brain useful in mathematics, spatial intelligence and
other intellectual pursuits . . ."

Adults and Piano Lessons

. . . the FASTEST GROUP OF ASPIRING PIANISTS IN THE U.S. TODAY IS NOT CHILDREN,
BUT ADULTS
aged 25-75+ years. "Many adults have taken piano lessons in their childhood years.
Some felt that they were pushed too hard, or had too many other interests and discontinued their
lessons. Piano methods were sometimes uninteresting and teachers too strict for many children
decades ago."
